Do you have historical information from the local area around Rockledge, PA that you would like to share with the Museum? As historians, we would like to learn more about our building and the surrounding area.
Our building was constructed in circa 1927 as a small textile mill, one of many in this area. In 1940, an addition was added on the Montgomery Ave side of the building. One hundred years ago the Rockledge vicinity hosted many textile mills and the related merchants. Thousands worked in the mills until the industry moved to the southern states. Our building was one of the last, still in operation until the 1980’s. The Gatsme Model Railroad Club, who will be building the model railroad in our building, specializes in modeling industrial areas of Pennsylvania from the mid 1950’s.
If you or a family member worked at the mill between 1927 and the early 1980s, please get in touch with us. The members of Gatsme and the Rockledge Model Railroad Museum are looking for the following pieces of historical information to include in the museum or incorporate as part of the model railroad:
- Photos (interior or exterior) or news articles from local industries or our building prior to 1980
- Information from you or a family member who may have worked in a our building when it was a textile mill
- Any other historical information about Rockledge, PA
Please fill out the form below if you have something you would like to share. A representative from the Museum will contact you in a few days to talk with you.
